Goldilocks, a memorable day to remember

Last October 24, 2010, my wife, daughter and I went to Goldilocks branch in Antipolo to order a special cake for our baby girl. They were attentive with what we need and gave us several albums for us to pick. My baby girl was so excited so she checked one picture after another and after several albums, she picked Dora with Boots and Swiper and with a background of a forest and rainbow. (Below is a picture but does not exactly look the same, the cake is square with a rainbow)

I was surprised because the guard was the one taking our order. Anyways, he asked us to fill up the form, and asked for other details like what candle, when to pick it up and what time to pick it up. So we told the guard the details he asked and told him we'll pick it up on October 28, 2010 at 9am. The reason why choose to pick it up at 9am is because before we go out to celebrate my daughter's birthday, we wish her to start the day by blowing her special birthday cake. I paid the cake in full so that I will just pick it up on the agreed date and time.

We were more excited than our daughter for her special day. This morning, I went to Goldilocks to pick up the cake, I came there at around 9:45am (45 minutes late) to be sure that the cake is ready, parking was usually hard since they only have one parking space, so I parked at Shopwise which is direclty in front of them. I crossed the street, excited to see the cake and when I came in the store to claim my cake, this is what happens next.

"Good morning", the crew told me, I returned the greetings with a good morning as well. He asked, "what can we do for you sir", I politely answered, I'm here to get the cake I ordered earlier. So I handed him my receipt, the crew told me, "for a while sir" which I answered politely again "sure". A few minutes later, he returned, he told me, "sir, could you wait for a minute", and I answered again "sure". So I sat down, looked around and waited. He then came back and told me, "sir, could you wait for 30mins or come back after 30mins, the delivery van is still at the other branch", irked, I said "What!?!?", then he told me again, "they are still melting the icing to form the Happy Birthday", so if that was the case, then 30mins would not be enough, I called my wife, asked her about he, she got irked as well, so as not to ruin our day because of this, I politely said to the crew, "I'll just pick it up this afternoon" and they answered, "thank you sir and we're sorry".

So here are the questions that I need to be answered. What is the use of ordering a cake in advance? What is the use of the pick up time? What is the use of downpayment? What is the use of lead time? What is the use of having a calendar with orders written in it? How is the order being processed?

The thing is, I'm not mad with crew, I'm just mad because I fulfilled all my part (details, payment, advance order, etc) but they didn't.

If it wasn't for my daughter's birthday, I won't be this upset. What if we have a real party set at 10:00am, then we'll be starting the party with no cake at all. Imagine the disappointment of our daughter. Imagine a party without cake. Imagine the excitement of a child who picked her own cake and was expecting it to be at the table by 10am but the disappointment lurks in after discovering that the cake won't be ready on time.

This is the first time and the last time we'll be ordering at that branch. I do hope they improve their process. I do hope they meet the customer's needs and satisfaction. I do hope when we pass by this afternoon, the cake is ready.

What now

What now? That is the question bugging me for the past few months. I really don't know what is. I've been planning so many things in my life but nothing seems to be happening. Let me give you an example, I was waiting for my new job description, it finally came, but the next thing that went through my mind was, what now? I got what I've been waiting for but what now? THIS IS REALLY CONFUSING. I know there is something missing but I can't seem to find it. I do hope someday I can answer this question and move on. I do hope so.

May Pasok ba?

Well, I was watching one of the shows from QTv called Qtube and they were featuring cool sites. One site that got my interest was the may Pasok ba website (http://maypasokba.com). When I went to the site, it told me that may pasok daw hahaha. Well, I am waiting for the day na walang pasok and see what the site will show. Based on the review, it shows some wacky things. Transformers Revenge of the Fallen

I remember the day when I watched the Premiere Night of the Transformers Revenge of the Fallen, it was one unforgettable night. For me, that was one great movie, but for critics, it was not. But don't they know that the directors of the film cares for the movie watchers not the critics. Compared to the first movie, this is much better because it has more action and more effects.

Most of all, I would like to thank Mellow Touch 94.7 for the tickets that I won from them. Thank you Mellow.

Car Trouble Again

I had another car trouble just a few hours ago. I don't know what's happening to my car but I experience the same thing last Wednesday and had my car checked and fixed. Well it's odd, while traversing Kamuning, I saw my temperature gauge going up, so I immediately went straight to Shell Gas Station for assistance, to my dismay, no one assisted me and I was the one getting the water to and from the water station. Not like the incident last Wednesday, Petron assisted me until my car was ok. Bad Shell Station, thank you Petron for your customer assistance service.

Tomorrow, I will go to my mechanic and have my car checked again to make sure that my car won't break down again and won't experience the service that Shell has given me.

Dinner at Pancake House

The last time I remember I ate at this place was last year when I met up with my agent from Manulife. Well, guess what, I met the same person just this evening. She treated me to dinner, so I ate my favorite food, the 2 piece Pan Chicken.

My agent happened to be the God Mother of my daughter. She asked a lot about her God Daughter and I told her na sobrang kulit na ng anak ko. We talked about a new insurance policy plan for my wife and the contents of the policy.

Good thing Pancake house has a good ambiance, good for meetings, catching up with friends, a quiet lunch, etc.

I don't know what's with the Chicken of Pancake House that made me addicted to it, but whenever I'm in any branch of Pancake House, this is sure to be one of my order.

Baguio, the summer capital of the Philippines

We went to Baguio last May 29, 2009 to May 31, 2009 to enjoy the last week of summer. To my dismay, it was raining, and one of the local resident told us it just started raining on the day of our arrival. Gosh, we forgot to bring our rain gears. Hahaha, good thing, SM was there so we bought jackets and umbrellas. It was my first time to be in that mall since the last time I went to Baguio was there was still no SM. The mall there has no aircon (obvious) and the place is wide open, only makeshift ropes and guards make the mall entrance. There are more restaurants than store there but the place is great. Since it was raining last Friday, we just stayed in the mall till it closed then we went home.

When we woke up the following day, there was no more rain. So we hurriedly dressed up as early as 6am and went straight to Grotto, we stayed there for an hour but it was already raining again (but not that strong), we went straight to mines view park. On our way there, we were happy since the rain stopped but when we arrived at our destination, it was full of FOG. Waaaaa. So we ate inihaw na pusit, sarap. We stayed there for half an hour only and went straight to Camp John Hay.

There was this historical trail in Camp John Hay that we enjoyed, we took pictures here, there and everywhere. We learned the History of how Camp John Hay came to be. Good thing it wasn't raining, so we enjoyed our tour there. This is not our first time in Camp John Hay but it was our first time to try the historical trail. It was tiring though but it was worth it, good thing there is Dencio's restaurant there so we ate our heart out.

After Camp John Hay, we went to the market to buy pasalubong. When we crossed the overpass, we saw many suspicious person, looking at prospective victim. Two of them followed me but they didn't know that I had company. So when I felt that I was being followed, I immediately stop and confronted them, they ignored me and went straight to their other companions, signalling them that they've been noticed. I remembered the wife of my officemate which recently got her mobile phone snatch in that area.

When we got home that night, we prayed that Sunday will be a sunny day because my wife really love to go to Burnham Park to do boating. The Lord heard our prayer so we were able to go to Burnham Park and go boating and arcade. They have this small arcade area with skating rink and bump car. Well, we enjoyed the bump car while my daughter enjoyed the other rides. We went home right after Burnham Park.

We enjoyed Baguio even though it was raining all the time but what we hated was those bad people lurking around Session Road. Hopefully, authorities will do something about it.
